This is a device made of metal (copper or steel) or plastic that installs the gynecologist in the uterine cavity. It is a safe and effective contraception for the long term whose action is reversible (it stops the withdrawal of the product). Its mechanism is the creation of a reaction (similar to a mild inflammation) of the inner layer of the uterus (mucosa), this reaction prevents the implantation of the fertilized egg. This method is only indicated in multiparous (several children) and not in nulliparous women (women who had no children).
